How to Take Care of Your Bags

There are 3 things that can damage your precious bags.

First being water. Water can destroy your bag all the time. It just can not be explained that why people always put their bags on any surface without looking or just carry a vachetta bag in full rain or snow. And some Alma and Cabals bags with huge water stains on the bottom and in the handle are often being seen. I am wondering why. There are some people who consider these as their “character” to the bags. But I think that a water stain is not character. That is neglect. Character is how to use the leather bags such as croissant, Cousin, or Abbesses to perfectly show your unique temperament. But this does not means that you never use your bags in fear of getting water stains on it, just by taking basic steps of common sense, you can get the full use of your bag for years.

The second is heat. Never ever leave your bags or accessories in your car in summer. The summer heat can discolor ate to the canvas and could even melt the canvas. Altogether keep them away from the other sources of heat. Sun and heat can destroy all bags that have untreated calf skin leather. Especially the LV monogram Vernis Leather line is the most delicate, even more than the LV Multicolor Line. The Vernis line is beautiful but “transfers” very easily when in contact with other items such as magazines, newspapers, anything plastic and other bags, and is unrecoverable. It seeps into the pores and will never come out. Suhali bags are very delicate as well.

The third is cold. The cold winter hardens soft canvas and will make it crack. I suggest wrapping the bag with white cotton towels or sheets and placing in the sleeper bag in the box when not in use. This would keep the bags away from the humidity and keep shape of your bags.

In a word, your beloved bags would be worthy to get your this care. Three points: not water, not heat and not cold. Then you will get your bags in good condition.
