Leather Belts as Fashion Accessory

Belts, as a part of clothing, had been around for quite some time. People generally use it to securely hold a pair of slacks, a pair of jeans or even a pair of shorts. It keeps the pair from falling off especially when the pair is a bit loose. Usually people do not have a pair that has a perfect fit because a person typically gains and loses weight.

Aside from its main purpose, belts also have been used for its aesthetic value. Both men and women use them as a staple accessory in their wardrobe. It evolved to being used as a fashion accessory more than its primary use. Women also use it to accentuate their waist or hips depending on their figure or preference. Using it as a fashion accessory made it even more widely used that it can also be worn with skirts and sometimes even clothing that do not even have belt loops. Using it over dresses and oversized tops also became widely acceptable.

Different materials are used for the manufacturing of belts. Some are made out of leather, synthetic leather, plastic, rubber, canvass, woven textile, indigenous material, beads and metals or any combination of these. Each of these materials have their own advantages and own aesthetic appeal. Majority, however, still rely on using leather belts.
